Surya Mandir Committee Protests Sidhgora Complex Construction

Sidhgora Delegation Urges Deputy Commissioner to Rethink Development Plans at Sacred Site

Surya Mandir Committee strongly objects to planned construction, citing cultural and religious significance of Sidhgora’s temple complex.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Surya Mandir Committee has taken a stand against proposed developmental projects within the revered grounds of Sidhgora’s Surya Mandir.

A delegation led by Bhupendra Singh, Chairman of the Surya Mandir Committee, met District Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Tuesday to submit a memorandum urging an immediate halt to the planned activities.

The memorandum emphasized that the Chhath Ghat pond and the Shankh Maidan were inaugurated in 2003 to cater to the spiritual and cultural needs of the community.

Ever since, the grounds have served as the backdrop for Chhath Mahaparv rituals, spiritual discourses, and a variety of religious activities.

The Committee argued that introducing a basketball court and a swimming pool into these sacred grounds would be incongruous with the area’s religious and cultural ethos.

The memorandum suggested that the district has abundant unutilized government land where these facilities could be more appropriately located.

Bhupendra Singh warned that meddling with the revered grounds could be seen as an affront to the community’s deeply held religious beliefs.

The delegation was composed of various community leaders, including Mithilesh Singh Yadav and Chandrashekhar Mishra.
