CSIR-NML Welcomes Students from Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College for Skill Development Tour

Under the CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative project, students from Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College visit CSIR-NML facilities for an educational tour focused on innovative scientific concepts and e-waste recycling.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) hosted a tour for students and teachers of Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College as part of the CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative project.

The program, organized on Thursday, aimed at creating a bridge between college students, faculty, and scientific learning in an engaging and innovative manner.

A total of 54 students accompanied by four teachers – Dr. Arbind Prasad Pandit, Dr. Animesh Kumar Bakshi, Dr. Pooja Kumari Dutta, and Dr. Lushi Rani Mishra – participated in this informative and engaging trip.

The purpose was to exchange knowledge and encourage students to participate in the development of innovative scientific concepts.

The full-day program included visits to the Urban Ore Recycling Canter, Engineering Workshops, 3D Printing facilities, Women’s Technology Park Project Area, the NML Museum, and Library. Dr. Manish Kumar Jha, Chief Scientist, MER Division, and Dr. Jhumki Hait, Senior Principal Scientist, MER Division, CSIR-NML, inaugurated the Urban Ore Recycling Center at NML.

Dr. Jha demonstrated the e-waste recycling center to the attendees, highlighting upcoming research and the significance of e-waste recycling for the ecosystem.

A lecture on ‘Process Energy Auditing for Industrial Scale Plants – A Brief Introduction’ by Udaya Bhaskar Rao, Principal Scientist and Head, Engineering Division, highlighted the impact of energy audits on industry and business.

The students and faculty actively participated and expressed satisfaction with the insights and experiences gained during the lab visit.
