Tata Steel Foundation signs MoU for development of Infrastructure at Community Health Centre, Mandu

Jamshedpur: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between Dr Prabhat Kumar, Civil Surgeon, Ramgarh (Dist. Admin, on behalf of the Government of Jharkhand) and Dr Anuj Bhatnagar, Head, Public Health CSR, Tata Steel Foundation towards the infrastructural development for Community Health Centre (CHC), Mandu at District Collectorate, Ramgarh.

Present on the occasion were Madhvi Mishra, IAS, DC, Ramgarh, Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro, Tata Steel Limited, Rajesh Kumar, Chief, Capacity Enhancement Project, West Bokaro, Tata Steel, S N Nandi, Head, Infra., Tata Steel Foundation and Keshav kr. Ranjan, Unit Head, TSF, West Bokaro.

As per the agreement, Tata Steel Foundation will take the responsibility of improving infrastructure of the CHC by renovating hospital building, construction of OPD waiting area, providing solar base electricity and modern medical equipment for Labour room, OT room and MTC room. Community Health Centre, Mandu, a 40 bedded hospital is an important public health service provider and lifeline for the community residing in interior villages of the block.

As per Census 2011, around 40% of the population belongs to the SC/ST community with prime source of income as daily wage labourers in mining areas and local brick-kilns. In addition, the centre is well connected with the neighbouring blocks of Ramgarh and Hazaribagh district through NH 33 and therefore has a regular footfall of the patients from both districts.

While implementing various public health initiatives like immunization of children, cataract surgery camps, prevention of non-communicable diseases, treatment of TB patients and during the pandemic, the Foundation has been closely working with CHC and leveraged to reach out for preventive as well as curative measures.

The centre provides OPD services like Mother and Child Health Care Services, Emergency health services and others through specialist doctors, frontline health workers and dedicated staffs. Presently, the CHC requires upgradation for ensuring smooth operation and to provide a clean and healthy environment with appropriate facilities for the patients.
