Mayor Sudha Gupta Inaugurates New Electric SUV Variant In Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR – Mahindra & Mahindra launched the new Sportec series of its BE 6 electric SUV at an event in Mango, where Mayor Sudha Gupta inaugurated the vehicle.
The company positioned the new series as a fresh blend of design, technology and driving experience. It said the Sportec line-up would give customers greater personalisation, advanced features and improved performance compared with earlier versions of the BE 6.
According to the company, the Sportec series has been introduced in eight variants and will be available in 12 colour options, including new premium shades. The cabin features a three-screen cockpit along with a racing-inspired interior, digital displays and updated technology aimed at making the experience more immersive.
Mahindra said the Sportec Frame Edition carries a sport-tuned design, distinct exterior styling and upgraded driving dynamics. The vehicle also comes with smart drive modes, live drive data, an audio beam system, Dolby Atmos sound and video streaming support.
Besides these features, the SUV includes the company’s artificial-intelligence-based “Maya” architecture along with six tech suites. Mahindra said these additions were meant to make the vehicle smarter, safer and more interactive for users.
A company official said electric mobility was no longer limited to range and acceleration alone. “Customers today want a vehicle that reflects their lifestyle and personality, and that thinking shaped the development of the BE 6 Sportec,” the official said.
The Sportec series will have a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 11.45 lakh. Depending on the variant and battery pack chosen, prices for the model can go up to Rs 26.95 lakh.
Mahindra also announced that from January 2027, the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9e Plus will receive new features through over-the-air software updates. Deliveries of the new Sportec series are set to begin in a phased manner from August 26, 2026.
The launch event in Jamshedpur comes at a time when the Mango civic body has also been in the news over other matters. Mayor Sudha Gupta has been at the centre of an ongoing rights row involving the Mango Municipal Corporation, and questions were also raised recently at a board meeting of the body.
Besides civic matters, the Mango area has also seen an ongoing encroachment drive against unauthorised structures on government land this month.
The electric-vehicle launch also follows other corporate developments in the city, including Tata Steel UISL’s GEEF Global WaterTech Award for water management and a GAIL agreement to supply piped natural gas to establishments across Jamshedpur.
