Howrah, June 1 (IANS) A wave of joy and celebration has swept through the North Howrah Assembly constituency as local MLA Umesh Rai is widely expected to be inducted as a Cabinet Minister in the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal.

The news on late Sunday evening has brought immense happiness to his family, supporters, and party workers, who have been eagerly awaiting this recognition of his long-standing service to the party.

As soon as reports of his impending elevation surfaced, BJP workers in the area burst into spontaneous celebrations. They distributed sweets among themselves and shared their delight, viewing this development as a well-deserved reward for Rai’s dedication and hard work.

The atmosphere in North Howrah turned festive, with BJP supporters gathering to express their pride in their leader’s achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, Umesh Rai expressed deep gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in him.

He said he has been associated with the BJP for a long time and has devoted many years to organisational work and grassroots struggles on behalf of the party.

Rai assured that he would shoulder the new responsibility with complete loyalty, sincerity, and integrity.

He emphasised that upon assuming the Ministerial position, his topmost priority would be to serve the people effectively and accelerate the development of the North Howrah region.

Rai described the opportunity as both a great honour and a significant accountability, adding that he remains committed to addressing the aspirations and needs of the common citizens.
