Several Children Injured, Treatment Underway at Manatu Health Centre

MANATU – A stray dog created panic in Nilambar Pitambarpur under Manatu police station on Monday.
The animal attacked and injured more than half a dozen people in the Madhya and Raheya localities. Several of the victims were children.
Among the injured were nine-year-old Ritesh Kumar and twelve-year-old Manisha Kumari. Eight-year-old Shahid Rajak and eight-year-old Mara Kumari were also bitten, along with other residents.
Following the attack, all the injured were rushed to the Manatu health centre for treatment. Doctors there are currently treating their wounds.
Meanwhile, the repeated biting incidents have left local villagers fearful. Many are now hesitant to let children play outdoors in the affected localities.
Residents have urged the administration and the concerned department to act swiftly. They are demanding that the stray dog be captured at the earliest.
In addition, villagers have called for adequate safety arrangements in the area. They said the measures are necessary to prevent further such attacks.
Palamu district has also seen other recent administrative and safety concerns come to the fore. In one case, the district DC ordered a pension order in days after an elderly woman’s grievance, while officials elsewhere have moved on thefts, with a Palamu theft case at government institutions being solved recently. Health-related lapses have also drawn attention in the region, including a case where a hospital negligence claim was raised by a grieving family.
