Ex-Minister Banna Gupta Joins Hundreds for Tree Plantation Event

JAMSHEDPUR – A large-scale tree plantation programme was organized at Domuhani Sangam on Saturday under the “One Plant for the Future” campaign, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and increasing green cover in the area.
A significant number of people took part in the event, planting saplings and pledging to protect nature going forward.
Former Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta attended the event as chief guest, along with DFO Sawa Alam and Mango Municipal Corporation mayor Sudha Gupta.
Students from various schools, representatives of social organizations and several prominent citizens of the city also joined the programme.
During the event, all the guests and attendees planted saplings as a symbolic gesture toward environmental protection. Speakers said every individual should plant at least one tree in their lifetime and take responsibility for its care, in order to counter the growing challenges of pollution and climate change.
Banna Gupta said trees do more than maintain ecological balance; they also form the foundation for clean air, pure water and a better life for future generations. He appealed to people to plant more saplings and ensure their protection.
Meanwhile, DFO Sawa Alam said the forest department has been continuously running awareness campaigns regarding environmental conservation. He added that the dream of a green Jharkhand can only be realized through public participation.
On the other hand, Mayor Sudha Gupta urged citizens to plant trees in their homes, neighbourhoods and public spaces to help make the city greener.
Besides tree planting, the programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge to spread the “One Plant for the Future” campaign among the public and to regularly look after the saplings that were planted during the event.
The plantation initiative is part of a broader push by civic and forest authorities in the region to expand green cover amid rising concerns over pollution.
