SAHIBGANJ – The West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a woman identified as Arpita Sarkar from Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district in connection with a case linked to suspected terrorist Hamim Mandal.

According to the STF, Sarkar was in constant touch with Mandal and allegedly worked to target influential individuals through honeytrap tactics on behalf of an organized network.

The action was carried out based on inputs and technical evidence gathered during the interrogation of Mandal, who was earlier arrested from Burdwan in West Bengal.

Investigating agencies are now working to determine how far the network’s links extend across different states, and to identify other individuals who may be involved in the alleged operation.

Meanwhile, interrogation of Arpita Sarkar is currently underway. Agencies are also examining her mobile phone, digital devices and contacts as part of the probe.

Officials believe that the ongoing questioning could lead to several important revelations connected to the alleged network. Investigators have previously flagged similar cross-state networks operating in the eastern region.

The STF has said further details of the investigation would be shared as the probe progresses.
