Umang Mukhi Found Dead Days After Wife’s Suspicious Hanging Death

Key Points:

  • Umang Mukhi’s body recovered from Subarnarekha River by Sonari police
  • Wife Saloni Mukhi found hanging in Panchvati Nagar flat on January 2
  • Police suspect suicide after murder allegations and social pressure

JAMSHEDPUR – Sonari police recovered a man’s body from Subarnarekha River late Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Umang Mukhi from Birsa Nagar.

Officers sent the body for post-mortem examination immediately. Sonari police station in-charge Madhusudan De confirmed the recovery. He provided details about the connected events leading to this discovery.

Saloni Mukhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan on January 2. The incident occurred in her Panchvati Nagar residence room. Her sister Saarthi Mukhi had discovered the body first.

Saarthi filed a complaint alleging her brother-in-law committed murder. She accused Umang Mukhi of killing Saloni deliberately. However, Umang fled the scene immediately after the incident.

On the other hand, police investigations revealed troubling family dynamics. Umang had been living as a ghar jamai with his in-laws. Both his parents had passed away years earlier.

Moreover, the couple had been experiencing marital discord recently. Conflicts between Umang and Saloni had intensified over recent months. Furthermore, neighbors reported frequent arguments between the spouses.

Umang himself had informed Saarthi about Saloni’s hanging on that fateful day. He then disappeared without providing any further explanation. In addition, he avoided all contact with family members.

Police suspect Umang took his own life due to mounting pressure. Fear of arrest and social stigma likely drove his decision. Besides, the murder allegations had severely damaged his reputation.

Investigators are examining both deaths thoroughly for any connections. Meanwhile, forensic experts will conduct detailed post-mortem examinations. The bodies will help determine exact causes of death.

The tragic incident has shocked the Birsa Nagar community deeply. Furthermore, questions remain about what transpired between the couple. Domestic disputes in Sonari have raised concerns about mental health support.
