JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Noamundi marked 100 years of mining operations with a grand centenary celebration on December 11, 2025.

Senior leadership from Tata Steel attended the historic event. Current and former employees gathered at the venue. Moreover, union members participated in commemorating the mining excellence journey.

The program began with an audio-visual feature screening. “Reliving 100 Years: Saga of Noamundi” depicted the site’s transformation. However, the presentation highlighted evolution from early years onwards.

The feature showcased Noamundi’s development into India’s advanced mining center. Sustainable practices formed the core of this transformation. In addition, technological progress received prominent documentation.

Atul Bhatnagar serves as General Manager of Ore Mines and Quarries. He delivered the welcome address at the ceremony. Furthermore, he outlined Noamundi’s journey based on innovation values.

Safety and sustainability guided the mining site’s development consistently. People-centric values shaped operational practices throughout decades. Besides, multiple generations contributed to this rich heritage.

“Pages from the Past” segment evoked emotional memories effectively. D.B. Sundara Ramam currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Services. On the other hand, he previously held VP Raw Materials position.

Ramam shared experiences from his Noamundi tenure extensively. His achievements during service years received special mention. Meanwhile, former leaders A.M. Mishra and A.D. Baijal contributed their perspectives.

The commemorative coffee table book release formed a highlight. TV Narendran released the publication as CEO and Managing Director. Sandeep Kumar participated as Vice President of Raw Materials.

The book documents Noamundi’s 100-year journey through visual narratives. Archival photographs capture historical milestones comprehensively. Furthermore, stories illustrate development of Tata Steel’s iconic mining unit.
