Firing Case Shooter Injured in Encounter, Accomplice Arrested in Jamshedpur

Police Nab Key Members Linked to Sujit Sinha Gang in Late-Night Action

Key Points:

  • Shooter Ravi Mahanand alias Gopla injured in police encounter
  • Accomplice Akash Singh alias Lalu arrested hours later in raid
  • Link found to Sujit Sinha and Dubai-based gangster Prince Khan

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Police achieved a major breakthrough after injuring one shooter and arresting another in two late-night actions linked to a recent firing incident at a businessman’s residence.

Police officials said the operations took place between October 27 and 28 following intelligence inputs about gang activities in Sidhgora and Sitaramdera areas.

The first operation occurred around 1:30 a.m. on October 28. Acting on specific information, a special police team led by the City SP and DSP (Law and Order) raided a vacant quarter in K-2 area of Sidhgora.

However, the accused, identified as shooter Ravi Mahanand alias Gopla, opened fire at the police team. The police retaliated, injuring him in the leg. He was taken into custody and shifted to MGM Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police recovered a loaded pistol, live cartridges, empty shells, liquor bottles, plastic sheets, and other items from the site.

A few hours later, police received another alert about Akash Singh alias Lalu, who allegedly played a conspiratorial role in the same firing case at businessman Haryram Singh’s house in Muidih under Sitaramdera police limits.

Police teams quickly moved to Sitaramdera Slag Road and arrested Akash Singh during a targeted raid.

During questioning, Akash Singh revealed that he and his associate Dashrath Shukla had old business ties with Haryram Singh and his son Harish Singh. They reportedly worked for them for years, earning ₹10,000 per month.

However, tension developed when the duo were denied promised roles in a liquor dealership project awarded in Jamshedpur. Harish Singh allegedly handed the work instead to a Gwalior-based trader, Prem Narayan Shivhare.

Angered by the betrayal, Akash and Dashrath contacted gangster Sujit Sinha and provided him details about the businessman’s family. They also coordinated with Dubai-based gangster Prince Khan.

According to investigators, extortion calls and WhatsApp messages followed. When the demands were ignored, the shooters opened fire at Haryram Singh’s residence on October 10.

Further probe revealed that Akash and Dashrath had procured firearms from Riya Sinha and Bablu Khan of the Sujit Sinha gang during a visit to Ranchi. Earlier, on October 23, police had already arrested Dashrath Shukla with three pistols and live ammunition.

Police officials said the operations have dealt a significant blow to the Sujit Sinha gang’s network. “These arrests have shaken the gang’s confidence. Raids are ongoing to capture remaining absconders,” said a senior officer.

Sources said more names could surface as investigation progresses, and teams have been deployed to trace other suspects linked to the firing and extortion racket.
