Drowning in Dimna Lake Claims Carpenter From Giridih

Fishermen Recover Body After Police Delay in Rescue

Key Points:

  • 21-year-old Krishna Rana drowns in Dimna Lake
  • Police arrive late, fishermen retrieve the body
  • Locals demand lifeguards and warning boards at the site

JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a young carpenter from Giridih drowned in Dimna Lake.

According to reports, nine youths had visited the lake around noon. Six of them entered the water to bathe. Krishna Rana, aged between 21 and 22, was the last to step in. Soon after, he began struggling and sank.

His companions tried to rescue him. However, the water was deep, and they failed. They managed to come out safely. Meanwhile, people present at the spot informed the police immediately.

However, the police arrived late and only conducted routine questioning. During this time, no search or rescue was carried out. Later, local fishermen reached the site and pulled out Rana’s body. Unfortunately, he had already died.

Witnesses stated, “The response was slow, and valuable time was lost.” This tragedy is not the first at Dimna Lake. Several drowning incidents have taken place over the years.

Yet, officials have not installed lifeguards or even warning signs at the lake. Locals have repeatedly urged authorities for safety measures. Despite the repeated appeals, no steps have been taken so far.

The accident has once again raised serious concerns about negligence and lack of preventive arrangements.
