Howrah-Rourkela Vande Bharat expands to 16 coaches

Train to Steel City gets major upgrade with more capacity

Key Points:

  • Howrah-Rourkela Vande Bharat to run with 16 coaches
  • More passengers to get faster Bengal-Odisha connectivity
  • Upgrade to ease rising travel demand on steel city route

JAMSHEDPUR – The upgraded Howrah-Rourkela Vande Bharat will now run with 16 coaches.

The train earlier had only 8 coaches. However, due to growing demand, Indian Railways has doubled its capacity. This will allow more passengers from Bengal and Odisha to travel quickly and comfortably.

Moreover, the new 16-coach rake will ease congestion. Passengers had often faced difficulty in booking tickets on the route. With this expansion, the travel experience is set to become smoother.

Besides, the train continues to offer modern features. These include faster acceleration, automatic doors, bio-vacuum toilets, and comfortable seating. The journey between Howrah and Rourkela is expected to be more convenient.

In addition, travel time remains competitive. The semi-high-speed train covers the distance faster than conventional express services. Officials said the upgrade will improve rail connectivity between Kolkata, Kharagpur, Tatanagar, and Rourkela.

A railway source commented, “The 16-coach Vande Bharat will ease pressure on passenger load. It is an important step for regional connectivity.”

The Howrah-Rourkela route is significant for both business and daily commuters. Rourkela, being a major steel hub, sees heavy travel demand. Meanwhile, students and workers from Jamshedpur and Kharagpur also benefit from this upgrade.
