RANCHI – Jharkhand faces severe cold conditions with temperatures plummeting significantly, as Kanke records a bone-chilling 2.4°C.

The Steel City witnessed its coldest December night at 9.2°C. Clear skies intensified the temperature drop across the region.

“We’ve lit bonfires even during daytime for warmth,” shared a resident of Garhwa district.

Impact on Daily Life

Local administrations have advised schools to adjust morning timings. Shelters have been set up for homeless citizens.

Meanwhile, Garhwa emerged as the coldest district at 4.5°C. The cold wave has particularly affected early-morning workers.

Weather Department Alert

IMD issued a yellow alert for Bokaro, Dhanbad, and five other districts. The department predicts continued cold conditions.

Moreover, minimum temperatures across Jharkhand hover around 10°C. The cold spell shows no signs of immediate relief.

Additionally, weather experts attribute the conditions to northern winds. The administration has recommended preventive measures.
