Two Arrested with Firearms and Ammunition in Lohardaga Ahead of Elections

LOHARDAGA – Lohardaga police have arrested two youths with four pistols, one country-made gun, and 84 live cartridges. The arrests were made as part of enhanced security measures ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

The arrested men, Kundan Gop alias Langda (27) and Chiranjeev Krishna (19), both residents of Ranchi district, were apprehended on Jamgai Road in Bhundara police jurisdiction. Acting on a tip-off, Lohardaga SP Hariish Bin Jama formed a special team that nabbed the accused near an orchard on Jamgai Road.

Upon their capture, police found 80 live cartridges of 7.65mm and two live cartridges of 8mm in their possession. According to authorities, Kundan Gop is a resident of Morro village in Ranchi’s Itki police jurisdiction, and he currently resides in Ratu Thana’s Daladali area. He also has a previous case registered under the Explosives Act in Bedo Thana.

The accused have been charged under multiple sections of the Arms Act (25(1-बी)A/25(1AA)/26/35). Two other named suspects are still under investigation.

The operation was conducted by a joint team, including personnel from the Sahastra Seema Bal, Kischo Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Azad, and Bhundara Police Station in-charge Arvind Singh.
