CHAIBASA – A CRPF jawan was injured in a Naxal-planted IED blast during a joint operation in Saranda Forest, West Singhbhum district.

A soldier from the 209 Cobra Battalion was wounded in an IED explosion set off by Naxals in Saranda Forest on Thursday morning.

The injured jawan was airlifted to Ranchi for advanced medical care.

His condition is reported to be stable, according to sources.

Security forces had launched a joint operation in the area following intelligence about the movement of top Maoist leaders.

The operation targeted forested regions bordering Chhota Nagra and Jaraikela police stations.

"Our teams are conducting extensive sweeps to neutralize the Naxal threat in the region," said a senior police official.

Heightened Security Measures

Security forces have intensified their efforts to apprehend key Naxal figures in the Saranda and Kolhan forest areas.

They have cordoned off multiple locations, including Chotanagra, Kolaiburu, Hatanaburu, and Mangponga.

"We’ve deployed additional personnel to cover all possible escape routes," explained a security strategist.

The operation aims to capture prominent Maoist leaders like Misir Besra, Mochu, and Anal, among others.

Ongoing Anti-Naxal Campaign

Security forces have been conducting sustained operations against Naxal groups in recent months.

These efforts have resulted in several Naxal casualties and arrests.

"We’ve also successfully neutralized hundreds of IEDs planted by the extremists," claimed a bomb disposal expert.

Authorities remain committed to maintaining pressure on Naxal elements in the region.
