State Government Pledges to Create Drug-Free Society

Chief Minister reaffirms commitment to combat narcotics and protect youth at state-level awareness program in Ranchi.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Champai Soren attended the "State-level Awareness Program against Narcotics" at Morhabadi ground on Wednesday, June 26, emphasizing the government’s dedication to creating a drug-free Jharkhand.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to combat drug abuse.

"We are appealing to people through extensive promotion in villages, neighborhoods, panchayats, blocks, and districts to stay away from narcotics," Soren stated.

A special awareness campaign is being organized to inform the public about the harmful effects of drugs.

Soren highlighted the increasing spread of narcotic substances, especially targeting youth in schools and colleges.

Actions Against Drug Trafficking

The state government is actively combating drug trafficking.

"Our police have destroyed several opium farms and recovered substances like brown sugar, marijuana, and doda," the Chief Minister reported.

Hundreds of accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

District police are targeting supply chains and have uncovered inter-state drug trafficking gangs.

Protecting the Youth

Soren emphasized the importance of keeping youth drug-free for the state’s prosperity.

"The youth are the future of our state and country. To build a prosperous Jharkhand, it’s essential to keep them drug-free," he declared.

The Chief Minister vowed, "We will not let the youth of our state succumb to drug addiction."

Collaborative Efforts and Event Highlights

Soren called for a collective pledge: "Today is a day for everyone to not only stay away from drugs but also inspire others to do the same and contribute to building a drug-free society."

A book on the Jharkhand Government’s commitment to eradicating narcotics was unveiled.

The event included activities like human chains, cycle races, and children’s marathons.

Notable attendees included Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Chief Secretary L. Khiyangte, and DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, among other dignitaries and school students.
