Annual SK Nanavati Event Celebrates Employee Wellness Through Sports

The SK Nanavati Cricket Tournament, aimed at fostering a culture of health and sports among Tata Steel employees over 40, has wrapped up its latest season.

JAMSHEDPUR – The SK Nanavati Cricket Tournament concluded with the Non-Works team winning it at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.

It is a prestigious yearly tournament aimed at promoting sports among employees of Tata Steel.

Tata Steel has long been a pioneer in promoting Indian sports, having supported the country’s first Olympic team in 1920 and established various sports academies.

The tradition of fostering sports among its employees and the community has been part of Tata Steel’s culture, reflecting the company’s commitment to holistic wellness and employee engagement.

Shri Shavak Nanavati, remembered through this cricket tournament, played a pivotal role in Tata Steel’s history, highlighting the company’s legacy in nurturing talent and leadership within and beyond the workplace.

The high point of the season was a match where TSLP & ISWP combined teams scored a tournament high of 202 runs against the Finance & Accounts team, showcasing the competitive spirit of the tournament.

The Raw Materials Division and Non-Works of Tata Steel battled in the finals at Keenan Stadium, with Non-Works clinching victory by 2 wickets, symbolizing the tournament’s emphasis on teamwork and competitive spirit.

Krishna Kant and Manpreet Singh received the Man of the Series and Man of the Match trophies, respectively, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the tournament’s success.

Awards for the best bowler, batsman, and fielder were presented, celebrating individual excellence in a season that emphasized wellness and camaraderie through sports.

This year’s tournament, overseen by Tata Steel’s Chanakya Chaudhary and D B Sundara Ramam, featured 16 teams and 27 matches, underscoring the company’s commitment to employee wellness.

The annual SK Nanavati Cricket Tournament, honoring Shavak Nanavati’s legacy, continues to promote sports and wellness among Tata Steel employees aged 40 and above.
