Steel Manufacturing Dominates Tournament, Wins Team Championship

Tata Steel’s Sports Department organized a successful Inter Divisional Chess Tournament from May 16 to May 17, 2024, at the JFC Media Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Sports Department held an Inter Divisional Chess Tournament from May 16 to May 17, 2024, at the JFC Media Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from 18 units of Tata Steel, with over 100 players competing.

Mr. Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, Chief Sports, and Ms. Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, Head Events and Training Centres, graced the prize distribution ceremony as Chief Guests.

In a remarkable display of skill, Mr. Adarsh Kumar from Steel Manufacturing secured the winner’s title.

Mr. K K Jha from Shared Services claimed the runner-up position, while Mr. Abhishek Jha from Steel Manufacturing finished as the second runner-up.

The team championship saw Steel Manufacturing emerge victorious, with Shared Services as the runner-up and Iron Making securing the second runner-up spot.

Renowned technical officials, including Mr. Jayant Bhuyan, Mr. Chandan Kumar Prasad, Ms. Shoukhin Kundu, Mr. Vishal Kumar Minz, and Mr. Vikram Kumar, ensured fair play and adherence to the rules throughout the tournament.

The event underscored Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting sports and fostering camaraderie among its workforce.

The tournament provided an excellent platform for employees to showcase their chess skills and cultivate a healthy competitive spirit.
