Shield XI emerged victorious in the eighth edition of the Big Bash Gurudwara Basti Premier League (GBPL), defeating Navyuvak by a commanding 63 runs in a thrilling final showdown at Sakchi Gurdwara Maindan.

JAMSHEDPUR – The eighth edition of the Big Bash Gurudwara Basti Premier League (GBPL) concluded with a spectacular finale, as Shield XI clinched the coveted title by outplaying Navyuvak in a one-sided affair.

The tournament, which showcased the cricketing talent of the local community, witnessed an exhilarating final match at Sakchi Gurdwara Maindan, the venue for all the matches in the series.

Shield XI’s Neeraj emerged as the star of the tournament, earning the title of sixer king with an astonishing 28 sixes throughout the series.

His explosive batting skills played a crucial role in his team’s triumph.

Amit Kumar from Navyuvak was recognized as the best bowler, claiming 11 wickets, while the young Dhruvapal was honored for his miraculous catch.

Punjab Kings secured the third position in the competition.

Shield XI’s Dominant Performance

In the final match on Sunday, Navyuvak won the toss and elected to field first.

Shield XI capitalized on the opportunity to set a challenging target, amassing an impressive 151 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 10 overs.

Bunty led the charge with a blistering 62 runs, including eight towering sixes.

Vijay and Neeraj chipped in with valuable contributions of 29 and 22 runs, respectively.

Navyuvak’s bowling attack struggled to contain the onslaught, with Amit managing to take two wickets, while Manoj and Sahil claimed one each.

Navyuvak’s Batting Crumbles

Chasing a daunting target of 152 runs, Navyuvak’s batting lineup faltered under pressure.

They could only muster 88 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 10 overs, falling short by a significant margin of 63 runs.

Sahil Singh top-scored for Navyuvak with 25 runs, followed by captain Sonu (15 runs), Manoj (14 runs), Navneet (5 runs), and Lakhan (4 runs).

Shield XI’s bowling attack proved too formidable, with Kunal leading the charge, taking three crucial wickets.

Abhishek and Vijay supported him well, claiming two and one wicket, respectively.

"Shield XI’s all-round performance was truly exceptional," remarked a senior member of the organizing committee. "Their batting firepower, coupled with disciplined bowling, made them deserving champions."

The prize distribution ceremony added to the grandeur of the occasion, with Sardar Nishan Singh, head of Sakchi Gurdwara, gracing the event as the chief guest.
