AJSU’s Arjun Baitha Rebels After BJP Declares Dilip Verma As Gandeya Candidate

AJSU leader claims Dilip Verma ineligible, demands his own candidature citing stronger connection with public

The BJP’s decision to field Dilip Kumar Verma as its candidate for the Gandeya assembly seat has sparked a rebellion from AJSU Party Central General Secretary Arjun Baitha.

GIRIDIH – Arjun Baitha, the Central General Secretary of the AJSU Party, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the BJP’s decision to declare Dilip Kumar Verma as the NDA candidate for the Gandeya assembly seat without consulting the AJSU party supremo.

Baitha claimed that Verma, who has been chosen as the leader by the NDA, is not eligible for the position.

He pointed out that in the last election, Verma had secured the sixth position, while he himself had come in third.

Baitha emphasized that he and the AJSU workers have had a direct connection with the common people’s happiness and sorrow, whereas Verma has had no such connection with the public.

He argued that his candidature from the NDA would have been the strongest, but the BJP ignored this and announced its candidate without the consent of the AJSU.

Baitha revealed that his supporters have been preparing for the elections for the last four years and that AJSU Party workers stand by the members of every house in the area during their times of happiness and sorrow.

He said that his supporters are urging him to contest the elections, and in view of this issue, AJSU Party Central President Sudesh Mahato is set to visit Gandey on April 2.

In the 2019 assembly elections, JMM’s Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed had emerged victorious, securing 65,023 votes, followed by BJP’s JP Verma with 56,168 votes, AJSU’s Arjun Baitha with 15,361 votes, and JVM’s Dilip Kumar Verma with 8,952 votes.
