Internal discussions shape JMM’s candidate selections for upcoming Lok Sabha polls
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha gears up for Lok Sabha elections, strategizing on candidate placements and seat allocations.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is currently in the process of finalizing its strategies and candidate selections for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, with significant discussions taking place regarding seat allocations and nominations.
The party is expected to contest the Rajmahal, Dumka, Giridih, and Singhbhum Lok Sabha seats as part of an alliance, with Vijay Hansda anticipated to be re-nominated for the Rajmahal seat.
Hemant Soren, a key figure within JMM, has been given the responsibility to decide on the candidate for the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, highlighting his influential role in the party’s electoral decisions.
For the Giridih Lok Sabha seat, Tundi MLA Mathura Mahato is being considered as a strong contender, although official announcements regarding seat allocations have yet to be made.
Following Congress MP Geeta Koda’s switch to the BJP, JMM has laid claim to the Singhbhum seat, bolstered by the fact that five out of six assembly constituencies in the area are represented by JMM MLAs, with one held by a Congress MLA.
The party has resolved that JMM candidates will contest the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat, indicating a strategic move within the alliance framework.
Several MLAs, including Majhgaon’s Niral Purti and Manoharpur’s Joba Manjhi, have expressed their willingness to run if nominated, while others like Chakradharpur’s Sukhram Oraon and Dashrath Gagrai have explicitly stated their desire to contest the elections.
Uncertainty surrounds the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat, with the final decision resting with Chief Minister Champai Soren, who was a candidate in the 2019 elections. Given his current role as Chief Minister, another candidate will likely be chosen to represent JMM in this constituency.
These internal discussions and strategic moves are crucial for JMM as it positions itself for the upcoming electoral battles, aiming to maximize its influence and representation in the Lok Sabha.
