Election Preparedness Meeting in Sidhgora

Officials gear up for Lok Sabha elections 2024 with a focus on fair and transparent polling.

In a pivotal meeting at Town Hall, Sidhgora, key guidelines were laid down by Ananya Mittal, the District Election Officer, and Kishore Kaushal, the Senior Superintendent of Police, focusing on the identification of critical and vulnerable polling stations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.

JAMSHEDPUR – The meeting emphasized the necessity of marking critical and vulnerable booths according to set standards to ensure special monitoring and the integrity of the electoral process.

Ananya Mittal highlighted the importance of surprise checks by BDOs, COs, and station in-charges to verify the availability of basic facilities at polling stations, with a deadline set for March 27 to ensure compliance.

The Booth Awareness Group activation and the preparation of a Booth Election Management Plan were also on the agenda, with a novel approach to model booths—where essential amenities are provided, qualifying them as model booths, and plans to introduce unique and theme-based booths.

Instructions were also given for BLOs to facilitate home voting for voters aged 85 and above, ensuring their participation in the democratic process, and to compile a list of ASD (Absent, Shifted, Death) voters for submission to the District Election Office.

Kishore Kaushal stressed that vulnerability of booths should be assessed based on potential voting influence, not personal crimes, to ensure proper force allocation and uphold election integrity. He also highlighted the importance of preventing individuals with criminal tendencies from affecting the elections and mandated checks on their history to maintain a fair electoral environment.

The meeting underscored the collective responsibility of officials to conduct the elections in an independent, fair, transparent, and clean manner, reinforcing the electoral system’s integrity in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
