Jharkhand CM Stresses Fair Distribution in Abua Housing Scheme

Champai Soren Vows Action Against Irregularities in Housing Allocation

The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Champai Soren, has emphasized the importance of integrity in the distribution of Abua Awas, ensuring it reaches only the deserving.

RANCHI – The Chief Minister of Jharkhand Champai Soren has issued stern warning against any anomaly in allotment of houses under Abua Awas Scheme.

On Friday, he made it clear that Abua Awas will be awarded strictly based on eligibility.

Reacting to a media report highlighting the issue of affluent individuals attempting to exploit the housing scheme, he warned that strict action would be taken against officials who allow such anomalies in the scheme.

A significant number of applications were found to be from ineligible candidates, leading to 11 lakh cancellations.

Some media reports said that the initial tally of applications stood at 31 lakh, which has now been reduced to 20 lakh after rigorous scrutiny.

The CM warned that discrepancies in the distribution process would result in strict action against officials.

The CM indicated that the verification process is ongoing, with ineligible applicants being systematically removed from the list.

Committees at the Panchayat and Block levels are conducting thorough reviews to ensure fairness.

It may be added here that the criteria for ineligibility include owning a pucca house, government employment, or substantial assets.

On the other hand, the Rural Development Department has mandated a recovery process for any allocations made in error to ineligible recipients.

Ensuring Equity in Housing Allocation

Government sources said that the government’s commitment to a fair distribution mechanism underlines the effort to eliminate corruption and favoritism in the scheme.

They said that a detailed eligibility criteria has been framed with the aim to prevent misuse of resources and ensure that benefits reach the intended recipients.

Addressing Challenges in Scheme Implementation

However, despite all this, the administration faces the task of managing a large number of applications, highlighting the need for effective oversight and transparency in the allocation process.

Sources said that the ongoing efforts to rectify the situation demonstrate a proactive approach to upholding the integrity of the Abua Housing Scheme.
