BJP Plans Protest Against Tata Steel UISL

Jamshedpur BJP to Stage Maha Dharna for Civic Amenities

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Business Cell in Jharkhand announces a protest against Tata Steel UISL for failing to provide basic civic amenities to slum dwellers in Jamshedpur, highlighting the lack of access to water, electricity, and other essential services.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Business Cell in Jharkhand has announced a significant protest dubbed ‘Mahadharna’ scheduled for 26 February at the Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) office in Bistupur, Jamshedpur.

The action aims to demand essential civic amenities for the city’s slum residents.

During a press conference held at the Bhootnath Temple Community Hall in Sonari, Jamshedpur, the need for pure drinking water, electricity, concrete roads, a proper drainage system, regular cleanliness, and improved schools and health facilities was emphasized.

The BJP Business Cell leaders said that despite Tata Steel’s prominence in Jamshedpur, slum dwellers face a dire lack of these services, leading to harsh living conditions.

Neeraj Singh, President of the BJP Business Cell, Jharkhand State, highlighted the corporation’s responsibility to ensure all settlements receive necessary utilities.

A senior citizen from Sonari revealed the extreme lengths residents must go to obtain drinking water, underscoring the disparity in access to facilities between Tata Steel employees and slum inhabitants.

Neeraj Singh said that despite previous dialogues and assurances from Tata Steel UISL regarding water connections, the company’s demand for a Rs 13,000 deposit has been criticized as unfeasible for the daily wage earners residing in these areas.

The planned protest aims to bring attention to the company’s perceived neglect and the government’s inaction in improving living standards for the colony’s residents.

Prominent BJP leaders and community representatives expressed their support for the movement, and said that it may further escalate if the company’s management remains indifferent to their demands.

The press conference saw the participation of senior BJP figures and settlement representatives, uniting in their call for action against Tata Steel UISL’s policies.
