New Chief Minister and Ministers Take Oath at Raj Bhavan
Champai Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan, administered by Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Two ministers, Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta, also took their oaths.
RANCHI – Champai Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 2 February.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered him the oath of office and secrecy.
The ceremony was held in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.
Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta were sworn in as ministers.
After the ceremony, Soren paid tribute at Birsa Chowk and Sido Kanhu Udyan.
The event follows the resignation of Hemant Soren.
Portfolios for the new ministers have yet to be assigned.
Governor Radhakrishnan highlighted the government’s duty towards the poor.
Champai Soren had requested an early swearing-in following his claim to form the government.
The Governor invited Soren for the oath taking late on 1 February.
Many dignitaries attended the ceremony, including JMM’s Mahua Maji and CPI(ML)’s Vinod Singh.
The new government paid tribute to tribal heroes Sido-Kanhu and Lord Birsa Munda.
