On Monday, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the "Abua Bir Dishom Campaign," aiming to grant forest rights to tribal families, with the campaign set to connect 15 lakh families and emphasize forest patta distribution.
RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren introduced the "Abua Bir Dishom Campaign" with a drumbeat.
This landmark initiative aims to provide individual and community forest rights leases to tribals and forest-dependent individuals.
The campaign’s ambitious goal is to enroll 15 lakh tribal families within 6-8 months.
Soren highlighted the overdue nature of this initiative, stating it’s a fulfillment of tasks pending since Jharkhand’s inception.
Following the anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda and Jharkhand Foundation Day, the "Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar" phase three will commence.
Officials will visit villages and panchayats to resolve citizens’ issues expediently.
Transport Minister Champai Soren has endorsed the campaign, predicting significant impacts on the lives of forest-dependent communities.
The CM remarked on Jharkhand’s unique cultural and civilizational identity, emphasizing the patience and simplicity of the tribal populace.
He criticized the previous neglect of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, in the state, which his government is now addressing proactively.
Soren addressed the urgency of implementing the Forest Rights Act as a campaign to distribute forest pattas extensively among the tribal and indigenous communities.
The Chief Minister’s speech was part of the campaign’s inaugural event organized by the Welfare Department in the Jharkhand Ministry auditorium.
Soren also touched upon the state’s demographic, where 80% rely on agriculture, stressing the government’s commitment to providing rights and entitlements.
He compared Jharkhand’s efforts with other states, urging officials to ensure the campaign’s success and lamenting past inattention to the Forest Rights Act.
The focus of the Soren government is now firmly on the distribution of forest pattas under the ‘Abua Bir Abua Dishome Campaign’.
