Jamshedpur FC Ready for 132nd Durand Cup Competition

The prestigious Durand Cup tournament will take place from August 3 to September 3, featuring 24 teams including Jamshedpur FC.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur FC is set to participate in the 132nd Durand Cup competition, scheduled between August 3 and September 3.

The tournament will be organised by the Indian Army on behalf of the Indian Armed Forces.

The Durand Cup will host 24 teams split into six groups. For the first time in 27 years, Jamshedpur FC will compete against foreign teams, including 12 Indian Super League (ISL) clubs, 6 I-League teams, 1 regional team, 3 teams from the Indian Army Air Forces & Indian Navy, and 2 teams from the Nepal and Bangladesh Army. Jamshedpur will compete against Indian Navy, Mohammedan Sporting, and Mumbai City FC in Group B.

Matches for this group will be held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata.

The tournament’s head coach, Steven Dias, will oversee the team’s performance. "We are excited about the Durand Cup. The young players will gain a lot from the experience," Dias said. "The entire team is looking forward to playing against the top teams in the country as it offers them the opportunity to grow and learn with each competitive minute they get. We will give our all against every team in our group."

Jamshedpur FC CEO Mukul Choudhari expressed the team’s honor at participating in one of the oldest club tournaments. He said, "The Durand Cup is a privilege for us to begin the season with. With the participation of clubs from Bangladesh and Nepal, this season will be unique. Our young talents will get a fantastic opportunity to showcase and measure their development among the national and international teams."

The games will be broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network and the online platform Sony LIV. Jamshedpur FC’s first game is scheduled for August 8 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, against Mumbai City FC.
