RPF, Railway Officials Deny Responsibility in Employee’s Self-Immolation Case

Railway Authorities assert their innocence in the tragic self-immolation of Sunil Kumar Pillay, amid accusations of causing undue distress.

JAMSHEDPUR – In the wake of railway employee Sunil Kumar Pillay’s self-immolation, officials from the Tatanagar Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Railway Land Department have come forward to deny any wrongdoing.

Sunil, a resident of Traffic Colony under the Bagbera police station jurisdiction, had attempted self-immolation following escalating conflicts with the RPF and the Land Department.

He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at the Tata Main Hospital.

Five days after the incident, RPF Post Incharge SK Tiwari and Land Department Officer RK Singh held a press conference to clear the air on the matter.

Tiwari stated that their actions were strictly in line with instructions from the Railway Board, aiming to halt unauthorized construction on encroached land by a person named Omprakash.

RK Singh revealed the history of the land in question, leased to Vrikrama Tiwari in 1984, and later transferred to Omprakash Kasera in 2011.

Sunil Pillay claimed possession of this land but failed to produce any supporting documents.

The incident occurred when authorities escorted everyone to the police station to prevent any untoward incidents, leaving Pillay alone at home.

Following Sunil’s tragic death, his wife lodged a written complaint at Bagbera police station, accusing RPF and Land Department officials of driving her husband to suicide.
