Cameras to Monitor Adjacent Main Roads, Enhance Security Measures
In a move to strengthen security measures, all Railway Protection Force (RPF) posts within the Chakradharpur division, including Tatanagar, will be equipped with CCTV cameras, extending surveillance to adjacent main roads, as part of a directive issued by the South East Zone to fortify the region’s security plan.
JAMSHEDPUR -The Chakradharpur division of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is set to enhance its security measures by installing CCTV cameras in all its posts, including Tatanagar, with surveillance extending to nearby main roads, following a directive from the South East Zone aimed at bolstering the region’s security plan.
To further enhance security, RPF is gearing up to install face detection cameras at the entrance gates of stations to prevent the entry of identified criminals. This initiative aims to address challenges encountered during investigations, such as the recent theft case at Tatanagar Station Pathway, where the absence of CCTV cameras on the main road hindered efforts to identify the perpetrator.
Additionally, measures such as luggage and vehicle scanners, as well as gate frame metal detectors, have been implemented to curb the influx of drugs and arms.
The new security plan will augment this setup with an additional 31 cameras.
Previously, a survey was conducted in the Chakradharpur division to install CCTV cameras at stations in rural areas, with a proposal for the installation of 10 cameras at each station, totaling 134 cameras.
The South East Zone Agency is tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the installation process to ensure comprehensive monitoring of all posts within six months.
Preparations are underway to install CCTV cameras in 11 RPF posts and three outposts across the Chakradharpur division, with an allocated budget of Rs 24.25 lakh by the railways.
Additionally, cameras will be strategically placed around the posts to monitor activities beyond railway premises, extending surveillance to adjacent main roads.
