Tata Steel observes Earth Day with a plantation drive, emphasizing sustainability and biodiversity preservation in its areas of operation.

Jamshedpur – In observance of Earth Day, Tata Steel organized a plantation drive, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity preservation in its areas of operation.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, planted saplings at City Forest (KF-1) in the Kadma area and at Kadma Biodiversity Park.

The event, organized by the Corporate Services department, was attended by senior office-bearers of the Tata Workers’ Union and high-ranking company officials.

Tata Steel has been actively collaborating with several organizations to improve its biodiversity conservation efforts.

The company has planted over 5.6 lakh saplings of native species across various locations.

In Jamshedpur, Tata Steel Corporate Services, in conjunction with TSUISL, has planted over 1 lakh tree saplings for several years.

In the last year alone, about 1.30 lakh tree saplings were planted, comprising more than 50 species suitable for local climatic conditions.

Tata Steel has established a tree bank at JMD eco-park with a capacity of approximately 2 lakh saplings per year, aiming to create a tree bank of 1 million in the next couple of years.

To mark World Earth Day, over 100 tree saplings were planted at the designated locations, and new action plans were discussed to further develop these areas, spanning about 24 acres, to enhance biodiversity in the region.

Chanakya Chaudhary expressed appreciation for the growing participation of local communities in Tata Steel’s environmental initiatives, highlighting the importance of a collective effort in promoting a greener future.
