4th Edition of Johar Haat Showcases Tribal Culture at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma

Jamshedpur: The fourth edition of Johar Haat, a week-long exhibition celebrating the art, craft, cuisine, and culture of various tribes across India, kicked off at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma.

The event will continue from April 14 to 21, 2023 and showcase the tribal culture at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma.

This month’s Johar Haat will feature over six distinct tribal groups from five Indian states. Participating tribes include Lambadi, Munda, Bodo, Santhal, Pradhan Gond, and Koya.

The theme for this edition is “Colours of Jatra,” drawing inspiration from the Oraon Jatras of Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. Visitors can engage with the theme through the exhibition’s décor, as well as various products, cuisines, and performances.

Johar Haat was designed to provide a dedicated space for displaying India’s rich tribal heritage through monthly week-long exhibitions.

This edition will host eight different stalls, each representing diverse tribal groups from across the country.

In addition to the stalls, the event will feature workshops on jewelry making, jute craft, and tribal cuisines throughout the week, giving attendees an opportunity to learn more about the unique crafts and culinary traditions of India’s varied tribal communities.
