Tata Steel Foundation Initiative Brings Together Four Tribes from Two States
The March edition of Johar Haat, a Tata Steel Foundation initiative, kicked off on March 14, celebrating the spring festival of Sarhul with a vibrant display of art, craft, cuisine, and colors from new entrepreneurs and their creative products.
JAMSHEDPUR – The March edition of Johar Haat celebrates the spirit of Sarhul and would be accompanied with a grand show of art, craft and cuisine with an offering of creative products from local artisans.
During this cycle, the Haat will also feature workshops on Ragi cakes and pastries making, a session on homemade and handmade chocolates, tribal paintings, and the Tribal Cuisine will serve delicacies traditionally offered during the Sarhul festival.
This month’s Johar Haat brings together 21 participants from four tribes – Kharwar, Munda, Oraon, and Santhal – representing the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Evenings at the Haat will be complemented by Samuday Ke Sath (SKS) movie screenings, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Sarhul festival symbolizes the various colors of spring in our lives and reflects the close connection between human beings and nature, a theme that resonates throughout the Johar Haat experience.
