2 Labourers Die as Pickup Van Overturns in Bodam Chelamadi

Two persons died and several were injured in Chelamadi near Bodam in East Singhbhum when a pickup van they were travelling in overturned.

Jamshedpur: Two laborers died as the driver of a pickup van lost control near Chelamdi under the jurisdiction of Bodam police station. The pickup van overturned killing the two labourers instantly. Around 15 other labourers were badly injured.

The pickup van was coming from Chelema to Jamshedpur and about 20 labourers were travelling on it. All were coming to Jamshedpur for doing roof casting work here. However, the pickup van overturned near Chelamadi, Bodam.

As soon as the information of the incident was received, the Councilor Swapan Mahato reached the accident site and helped in rescue efforts. With the help of the police and villagers, all the injured were taken to the local government hospital. However, two labourers died due to serious injuries.

All the injured persons were sent to MGM Hospital after first aid and the injured are undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital.

Councilor Sapan Kumar Mahato said that he got the information in the morning that workers were trapped under a van as it turned turtle.

He said that after reaching the site, he ensured that all the injured were sent to the local hospital with the help of villagers.
