Pickup van collides with container in Dhanbad, one dead, four cattle killed

In a tragic road accident, a pickup van loaded with cattle collided with a parked container on the GT Road Howrah-New Delhi National Highway in Dhanbad district, resulting in the death of one person and four cattle.

DHANBAD – The incident took place in the early hours of Friday near Kandidih in Topchanchi police station area, where a speeding pickup van lost control and rammed into a container parked on the roadside.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the pickup van was completely destroyed, leading to the instant death of a 23-year-old man identified as Akhilesh Yadav, a resident of Buxar, Bihar.

According to eyewitnesses, the young man’s head was severed from his body due to the intense nature of the crash.

Four cattle being transported in the pickup van also perished on the spot, while one sustained severe injuries.

Three other cattle in the vehicle escaped unharmed and have been taken into custody by the Topchanchi police.

The drivers of both the pickup van and the container fled the scene following the accident.

Topchanchi police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

"The pickup van was traveling at a very high speed, which led to the driver losing control and colliding with the parked container," stated a police official.
