Fix responsibility for deaths due to road accidents too: Appu Tiwari

AJSU spokesman Appu Tiwari today demanded that the administration also fix responsibility for deaths caused by road accidents. He asked if the public pays fine to govt, the latter should compensate for the loss of lives in road accidents too.

Jamshedpur: AJSU spokesperson Appu Tiwari today demanded that the district administration fix responsibility for the accidents caused due to bad condition of roads and encroachments.

In a press release issued today, he said that various types of fines are collected from the motorcyclists, tempo drivers, or big vehicle drivers on the road by the administration, while the defaulter is also made to realise his or her mistakes.

He said that similarly the administration too should take responsibility for the deaths caused due to accidents caused due to its own negligence.

He said that whenever anyone is caught violating traffic rules, the administration is quick to punish him or her. However, when there are huge potholes on the road or when there has been an encroachment on the road someone from the administration should be held responsible.

He said that due to negligence of administration, road accidents are happening every day.

He said that people are losing their limbs and lives due to accidents. However, no one is being held responsible for these accidents.

He said that there are long queues of big vehicles on the side of the road. But no one is taking care of these issues.

He said that the the traffic police does helmet checking every day.

However, he said, if they discharge their other responsibilities in the same way, then perhaps there would not have been so many accidents.

He said that the district administration should ensure that is a time limit in any road construction work within which the construction of the road is completed.

He said that if action is not taken immediately, AJSU will soon be bound to launch an agitation.
