CBI team arrives in Dhanbad, starts probe into Judge Uttam Anand death case

Two main accused likely to be taken on remand for interrogation

Ranchi: The CBI team would soon seek remand of the two main accused of Dhanbad Judge Uttam Anand death case for interrogation. Brain mapping and narco test too are likely to be done.

The CBI team has already reached Dhanbad and has started the probe into the suspicious death of Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand. Move are afoot to seek the two accused on remand for interrogation.

The 20-member CBI team is being led by SSP V K Shukla.

On Thursday itself the team held a number of meetings with SIT officials associated with the probe of the case and vetted documents and evidences.

The team also examined the CCTV footage. Mobile phones of the accused have been seized and are being examined. SIT’s case diary too has been taken over by the CBI team. Forensic team too got to work with finger print, clothes and shoes of the accused.

It may be recalled that on July 28, Dhanbad Additional District and Sessions Judge VIII Uttam Anand was hit by an auto rickshaw from behind when he was on his morning walk.

A few hours after the incident, when the CCTV footage of the incident came to light, it became evident that the Judge Uttam Anand, who was walking on the left side of the road, was deliberately hit from behind by the auto.

He fell on the side of the road and after hitting him the auto proceeded without stopping.

Next day, the police had seized the auto that hit ADJ from Giridih. The police had also arrested the auto driver L Verma and his accomplice.

Deceased judge’s wife had lodged an FIR in the police station calling the Judge’s death a deliberate murder.

Judge Uttam Anand’s father also told the media that his son was hit on the head with a rod-like object.

It was also found in the post-mortem that the death of DJ was due to a head injury.

There were three external and seven internal injuries on those bodies. It was said in the post-mortem that several bones of his jaw were also broken.

The Supreme Court had also taken cognisance of the case.
