Jamshedpur: No big pandals would be made this year for Durga Puja. Nor would any crowding be allowed in Durga Puja pandals. The puja would be celebrated according to guidelines of the district administration.
Corona is likely to cash a dark shadow on Durga Puja celebrations in the city this year.
The district administration has made some changes in the traditional system of celebration and management of Durga Puja festival in the city.
On Sunday, a meeting of the Parsudih Sarwajanik Durga Puja Committee was held at Khasmhala Community Hall.
All the members observed a 2 minute silence in the memory of late former President Pranab Mukherjee.
Later, Anjan Mukherjee, an office-bearer of the Puja committee said that after 84 years, this time Puja Committee would scale down the celebrations due to coronavirus pandemic.
He said that puja pandal would not be a big one this year, the statue would be comparatively smaller too and there would be no fair either.
All the guidelines of the district administration would be complied with.
Meanwhile, all the puja committees of the city have announced that puja would be held, but would be scaled down.
After a few days, markets would also start getting ready with new goods and products for the pujas. However, social distancing would remain the buzzword.
A few puja committees have sought permission for bhog distribution and use of loudspeakers.
The government directive is yet to come on these pleas.
