JAMSHEDPUR – A one-day yoga awareness workshop is being held at Jamshedpur Women’s University on April 13 as part of the 100-day countdown to International Yoga Day 2026, organised by the Icriya Yoga Association (IVA) Jharkhand State Committee under the Union Ministry of AYUSH.
April 13 falls on the 69th day of the official countdown to International Yoga Day 2026. The theme declared for this year’s observance is “Yoga: For Wellness, Knowledge, and World Peace.”
The primary venue for the afternoon programme is the Kharkai Auditorium at the Bistupur campus of Jamshedpur Women’s University. The session is scheduled to begin at 3 pm. It has been organised on the directions of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ila Kumar.
Meanwhile, a morning session will also be held from 7 am to 8 am. The session will cover yogasana, pranayama, and meditation. In addition to the university campus, the morning session will be held at RKM English School Sidgora, other RKM Schools, Gayatri Mandir, and Patanjali Living Yoga Hall.

The event is open to all yoga enthusiasts free of charge. No entry fee is required. International Yoga Day falls on June 21 every year. However, it was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations in 2014 and has been observed globally since June 21, 2015.
The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, established in 1970 and upgraded to a national-level autonomous institute in 1998, has been a key coordinating body for national health awareness programmes linked to yoga. The Ministry of AYUSH coordinates the 100-day countdown events across the country through state-level yoga associations such as IVA.
Jamshedpur Women’s University, a state university in Jharkhand, has a significant women’s education mandate in East Singhbhum district. The Bistupur campus houses its main administrative and academic facilities.
