Total cases of mucormycosis rising, death toll 25
Ranchi: Corona is not the only challenge for Jharkhand. Mucormycosis has emerged as another challenge for the doctors here. Cases of black fungus are being reported with regularity in Jharkhand. 5 people have also succumbed to black fungus in the state within 24 hours.
All the deceased patients were being treated in hospitals in different districts. At the same time, two new cases of black fungus have also been reported. One of these is confirmed, while the other one is suspected.
Increasing number of Mucormycosis has caused a concern in the Health Department. At the same time, a new guideline has been issued by the government for the screening of black fungus cases.
There have been 130 cases of black fungus in Jharkhand, out of which confirmed cases are 79 and the number of suspected cases has reached 51.
37 patients have recovered from black fungus, while the total death toll due to the malaise has reached 25 in the state.
Those who died of black fungus on Monday included 1 from Garhwa, 1 from Godda, 1 from Koderma, 1 from Ramgarh and 1 from Ranchi.
