Short Film Festival 2024 Concludes in Jamshedpur

Two-day event showcases 20 acclaimed films at Center for Excellence

JAMSHEDPUR – The two-day Short Film Festival 2024 concluded on Sunday, November 24, at the Center for Excellence in Bistupur.

The event was jointly organized by Tech 5 Communication, Kolkata, and the Center for Excellence, Jamshedpur.

Distinguished guests at the festival’s closing ceremony included Neha Tiwari, Head of Mass Communication at Karim City College, and Rajni Shekhar, Principal of DBMS English School.

Over two days, the festival showcased 20 short films, including 11 in Hindi, 3 in English, 5 in Bengali, and 1 silent film.

The films ranged in length from 2 to 27 minutes.

Several films screened at the event had received international and national awards, earning praise from the audience.

Highlights from the Film Lineup

On the festival’s final day, Sunday, notable films like Akshay Vat, Vidai, Jeevan Kal Mrityu, Apna Time Kab Ayega, and Manavi captivated the viewers.

Other Sunday screenings included Protibimbo, Khatre ki Ghanti, Badal ko Rang Do, Dekhi Gayi Mahilayein, and ITI Renu.

Saturday’s lineup featured Khali Ghosla, Meharam, Megher Arale, 84 Saal: Ek Lambi Yatra, Rahasya, Jamura, and Rog Koi Ilaj Wahi.

The day’s selections also included Mishti, Suryast, and Kanak.

Insights from the Organizers

Speaking at the event, Tech 5 Communication’s founder and film director, Tathagata Bhattacharya, highlighted the festival’s 17-year legacy of nurturing filmmakers.

"This is not a competition but a celebration, providing emerging directors the chance to learn from experienced professionals," Bhattacharya said.

He noted the expanding career opportunities in filmmaking and emphasized the festival’s role in fostering creativity.

Contributions and Collaborations

The festival was supported by Tata Steel and organized in collaboration with the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE).

Contributors included Center for Excellence Chairperson Marilyn F. Anklesaria, theater artists Gautam Shankar Das and Siddharth Sen, among others.

The festival also provided a platform for artists from Jamshedpur and across Jharkhand, showcasing the region’s growing talent in short filmmaking.
