Health Minister Irfan Ansari to Launch Facility Built at Rs 10 Crore

DUMARIA – A newly constructed 30-bed community health centre in Dumaria block will be inaugurated on Tuesday by Jharkhand Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Irfan Ansari.
The facility, built in Bhalukpatra mauza at a cost of around Rs 10 crore, comes after sustained efforts by Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar. Ansari is expected to formally launch the hospital as part of the inauguration.
The new hospital will serve around ten panchayats of Dumaria block, benefiting thousands of villagers in the area. Officials said the state government has been strengthening health facilities in rural areas so that residents no longer need to depend on distant hospitals for treatment.
With 30 beds, the facility will offer round-the-clock health services once it becomes operational. Besides general treatment, patients will have access to various blood tests, screening and services for non-communicable diseases, and an adolescent health counselling centre.
A block public health unit will also function on the hospital premises. This unit will provide testing facilities for tuberculosis, malaria and jaundice, among other essential examinations.
Officials said the additional testing facility will make it considerably easier for rural residents to access diagnostic and health services closer to home. Meanwhile, the hospital is expected to reduce the burden on larger facilities elsewhere in the district.
The Potka constituency has seen a series of development initiatives in recent months. In addition, health infrastructure has been a focus elsewhere in the district, with a separate subdivisional hospital in Chandil also awaiting inauguration after completion.
However, concerns over hospital services have surfaced elsewhere in the region, including at Siddhesh Hospital in Adityapur, where allegations of medical negligence were reported recently. Officials in Jamshedpur have also flagged shortcomings in ambulance and mortuary services, as seen in a recent case involving MGM Hospital in the city.
The Dumaria facility is expected to join a growing network of rural health centres across East Singhbhum district, aimed at expanding access to primary healthcare for villagers.
