JAMSHEDPUR – A 37-year-old man died late Saturday night after his motorcycle rammed into an electric pole in the Golmuri police station area. The accident took place near a water tank, leaving residents in the neighbourhood shaken.
The deceased was identified as Sushil Shah. According to the police, he was riding his bike when the vehicle suddenly went out of control. It then collided head-on with a pole erected along the roadside.
The impact of the collision was severe, and Shah fell to the ground with critical injuries. Meanwhile, local residents in the area acted quickly and alerted the police soon after witnessing the crash.
With the help of police personnel, Shah was rushed to MGM Hospital for treatment. He was transported using an auto-rickshaw and a PCR van pressed into service for the emergency.
However, doctors at the hospital examined him and declared him dead on arrival. The police said his identity was established using a PAN card recovered from his belongings, which listed his name as Sushil Shah, aged 37.
His body has been kept in the mortuary of MGM Hospital for the time being. Besides the identification process, the police are now working to trace his family members and next of kin.
In addition, an investigation into the exact circumstances behind the crash has been launched. Officers are examining whether excessive speed or a mechanical fault led the bike to veer off course before hitting the pole.
Golmuri has witnessed a series of law-and-order incidents in the past, including cases handled by the local police station, and disputes that have at times turned violent in the area. On the other hand, road safety concerns have also surfaced periodically across other parts of the city, with poorly lit stretches and unmarked obstacles often cited as contributing factors in such accidents.
Jamshedpur police officials said further details would be shared once the victim’s family is located and formal proceedings are completed.
