JAMSHEDPUR – A large group of residents joined the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) at a membership function held at Paswan Bhawan in Golmuri on Monday.
The venue is also known as Dusadh Bhawan. The gathering combined a get-together with the enrolment drive.
Ravi Chaudhary presided over the proceedings. He heads the party’s metropolitan unit.
Moreover, the state president attended as chief guest. Virendra Pradhan addressed the gathering during the function.
Those who took membership included Santosh Srivastava and Satya Prakash Singh. Dr Ashok Sikandar and D. Rameshmanand Paswan also joined.
Shambhunath Paswan and Sanjay Paswan were among the new entrants. Kamal Paswan, Dilip Paswan and Kumar Paswan joined as well.
Besides, women turned out in strength at the event. Kamaljit Kaur, Gauri Devi and Purnima Devi took membership.
Pushpa Devi, Sushma Devi and Rupa Devi joined the party. Neetu Devi, Kusum Devi and Poonam Devi followed.
In addition, Mala Devi, Sekka Devi and Nazneen Begum enrolled. A large number of other women joined alongside them.
Pradhan welcomed the new members from the dais. He said the party was working on issues of public interest.
It was carrying all sections of society along, he said. He called for the organisation to be strengthened down to the booth level.
However, the leadership went further in its assessment. Party leaders spoke at the close of the programme.
They claimed hundreds of people had joined on the day. The organisation in East Singhbhum would gain fresh strength, they said.
New members also resolved to work for the unit. The pledge was taken during the ceremony.
The city has seen frequent political activity in recent weeks. Congress workers burnt an effigy during a protest in Jamshedpur.
Meanwhile, party appointments have continued across the state. Congress announced fresh state leadership appointments this month.
On the other hand, rival workers have clashed elsewhere. Cross FIRs followed a clash in Ranchi last week.
The NDA has also been active in the region. A review meeting was chaired at a meeting in Patna earlier this month.
Local politics has stayed sharp in the steel city. A dispute over remarks on Mango drew a Congress protest in July.
The Golmuri area itself has been in the news lately. A corruption allegation at the local ESIC drew demands for an inquiry.
