GAMHARIA – The suspicious death of Ravindra Nath Thakur, an employee of Sudha Dairy in Gamharia, has sparked a major protest as his family and local residents launched an indefinite sit-in at the company’s main gate on Wednesday morning, blocking movement in and out of the facility.
The protesters have demanded the registration of a murder case, payment of ₹25 lakh as compensation, a permanent job for one family member and strict legal action against those responsible for the death.
Thakur’s wife, Tara Devi, levelled serious allegations against the company’s management. She said that when her husband fell ill, the management sent him home instead of taking him to a hospital. She further alleged that a toxic substance was found in his body, which, she said, pointed to a conspiracy. According to Tara Devi, her husband’s death was not natural but a pre-planned act.
The family stated that the protest and blockade at the company gate would continue until all their demands were met. Local residents have extended support to the agitation, with a large number of people gathered at the site.
Meanwhile, no official response has come from Sudha Dairy’s management so far. The blockade has disrupted normal operations at the Gamharia facility, and the area has remained tense since the protest began.
The case bears some resemblance to other recent workplace-death disputes in the region, where families have demanded accountability from employers and insisted on permanent employment for dependants as part of settlements.
