SERAIKELA – A Tata Steel Foundation employee died in a road accident near Sahoo Colony in Rajnagar late Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Ramray Hansda (38). He resided in Magarkela Dipasai Tola. The area falls under Rajnagar police station limits.

Hansda was returning home on his Honda Shine SP motorcycle. The vehicle bore registration number JH 05 CC 0964. He had visited a friend in Jamshedpur earlier.

The victim was traveling via Hata-Chaibasa NH 220 route. He reached Rajnagar market around midnight. Moreover, he turned towards his home at Sido Kanhu Chowk.

The accident occurred near Heera Tent House. The spot was approximately 500 meters from Sido Kanhu Chowk. He needed to cover just 100 more meters. Then he would have reached Tilka Majhi Chowk.

From there, he had to take Seraikela road. However, tragedy struck 1.5 kilometers before reaching home. The accident proved fatal despite safety precautions.

Hansda was wearing a helmet during the journey. Nevertheless, he suffered severe head injuries. He died on the spot. The helmet remained hanging on his head.

Police reached the scene after receiving information. Officers took custody of the body. They removed the helmet from his head. On Sunday, the body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.

Local residents expressed shock over the incident. “Hansda had safely covered the long distance from Jamshedpur,” one witness said. “Unfortunately, he died in this tragic accident just before reaching home.”

His house was located on Rajnagar-Seraikela road. The residence stood roadside in Dipasai Tola of Magarkela. Hansda was the younger of two brothers. He was unmarried.

The deceased worked for Tata Steel Foundation. He held the position of Circle Resource Person (CRP). His colleagues expressed grief over his untimely death.

Similar accidents have occurred on this route recently. A young engineer from Jamshedpur also died in a road accident. An accident in Kharsawan had sparked protests earlier.
