Markets See Heavy Crowd as Women Shop for Dresses and Jewelry

Key Points:

  • Durga Puja shopping peaks in Bistupur, Sakchi, Sonari and Kadma
  • GST cuts reduce prices of clothes and decorative items
  • Rain threat worries visitors but enthusiasm remains strong

JAMSHEDPUR – The city is witnessing a festive rush as Durga Puja approaches, with markets buzzing with shoppers.

Women and young girls are crowding shops for clothes, jewelry, cosmetics and puja items. Traders said footfall is much higher than last year. Fashionable dresses, sarees and modern jewelry are especially in demand.

Meanwhile, GST rate cuts have lowered the prices of garments and decorations. Shopkeepers expect a major rise in sales this season.

On the other hand, continuous rainfall has raised concerns among residents. Many worry that pandal visits and outdoor plans could be disrupted if showers continue during the festival.

However, the festive mood remains unaffected. Bistupur, Sakchi, Sonari and Kadma markets are packed with shoppers.

Pandal committees are also working at full pace. Theme-based structures and elaborate decorations are being prepared. Glittering lights and creative setups are adding to the city’s festive look.

Overall, preparations across Jamshedpur are in full swing for Durga Puja celebrations.
