Kolkata Hosts ‘Trahi Durga’ Dance Festival Honoring Maa Durga

19 Artists Perform Classical and Folk Dances at Kalighat Event

KOLKATA – The “Trahi Durga” dance festival in Kolkata celebrated Maa Durga through Indian classical and folk performances, attracting wide appreciation.

The event took place at Joges Mime Academy in Kalighat. It was jointly organized by Lasya Dance Academy and NGO SMB Foundation, recognized by the Government of India.

A total of 19 artists performed in solo, duet, and group formats. However, the diversity ranged from Kathak and Bharatnatyam to Rabindra Nritya, semi-classical, and folk dances.

Solo artists included Suditi Chakraborty, Surangana Mukherjee, Sonali Gupta, Paushali Paul, Shruti Choudhary, Piyali Roy Choudhary, Sriya Dutta, Rajanya Chattopadhyay, Aaradhya Ghosh, Payal Dasgupta, Brinda Dhara, Aniveka Santra, Dharitri Sinha, and Maitri Bagh. Moreover, Shrija Ghosh and Aaradhya Nandi performed as a duet.

Group performances featured students from Lasya Dance Academy and Unicorn Dance Academy. Meanwhile, audiences praised the energy and grace of the dancers.

The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony. All participants received costumes, mementos, and citations in recognition of their performances.

Renowned Odissi and Bharatnatyam dancer Arita Chatterjee was the driving force behind the festival. Her efforts brought together the devotional and artistic confluence.
