JAMSHEDPUR – A serious accident was narrowly avoided near Marchgoda under Potka police station limits when two buses collided while trying to overtake each other.
The incident involved a Nain Mani bus and another worker-filled bus heading from Kalikapur to Jamshedpur. During the overtaking attempt, the buses scraped against each other, causing the Kalikapur bus to lose balance. However, the driver applied brakes in time and prevented the vehicle from overturning.
Both buses together carried around 200 workers who commute daily to Jamshedpur for work. Witnesses said panic spread immediately after the collision, and many feared for their lives. Workers later admitted that without the driver’s quick response, dozens could have died.
Following the incident, the Nain Mani bus driver staged a road blockade near Sundernagar police station, demanding action. Sundernagar police reached the spot, persuaded the protesters to clear the road, and took both drivers into custody.
Police later seized the buses and confirmed that further investigation was underway.
