JAMSHEDPUR – Adivasi Mulvasi Vikas Parishad organized a get-together and community feast on Wednesday at Pada Maidan in Potka. The event, presided over by the council’s president, Nirupam Hansda, focused on expanding the organization and addressing key community concerns.
Speakers at the event emphasized the need to transform Potka block into an aware, educated, healthy, and self-reliant region. The session began with members sharing their suggestions on developmental strategies.
Organization to Address Local Issues
During the gathering, concerns were raised about the inefficiency of government services. The speakers alleged that no work gets done without bribes, and illegal logging, iron ore, and sand smuggling continue unchecked in the forests.
The council also highlighted that even after 28 years, the provisions of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA) have not been implemented in the Fifth Schedule areas, violating the Supreme Court’s directive.
Future Course of Action Planned
To combat these challenges, the council resolved to initiate a phased movement against corruption and illegal activities. Awareness programs will also be launched to educate locals about their rights.
